Two simple words that can be difficult to implement. It’s something I’ve been working on recently in various aspects of my life.
One example is this website. I’ve just changed web hosting for it. The purpose of this was to simplify and minimize my workflow. Previously it was hosted on Digital Ocean using one of their automated scripts to setup an Ubuntu Server, setup user rights, ssh keys, WordPress, etc. Even though they provide it, you still have to put in some work on the command line. The site ran great but my mind wasn’t at ease. I’m not a server admin nor do I really want to learn that right now. So the security of the website was always on my mind. I also had to learn about anything extra I want to do with it. Even though I paid less and got more performance it’s not worth it at this time.
So I decided to simplify my setup by moving to SiteGround a shared hosting provider and minimize my stress over hosting. Yes, I know there are companies who provide “managed” hosting using Digital Ocean servers and others but the customer service seems to be lacking so that sounds like more trouble down the line.
I hope to apply these two word to more things in my life and reduce the clutter physically and mentally. My immediate goals for this website after getting it setup is finding the best workflow for posting content without any friction. Optimizing the site so it operates as best as it can so in the end I can produce the content I like.
